Well, I gotta agree, there is alot of worthless sh*t in this world. I've come to the conclusion though that GW may have a harder time with play balance by the way they release their codices/army books. Other game makers seem to make new books with multiple armies in one book (though, GW does it with Ancients, curious), thereby ensuring some balance within the book via making it an integrated project. GW doing them separately gives the gw writer either too much freedom, or, creates too high an incentive to 'beat the last book' published. To me it 'creates' players who get tired of getting tabled, so when 'their' new book comes out they gladly take the over-the-top list/items/heros to finally table their 'tormentors'. Not saying its right, just saying it the gw model as the root cause. Either way, it does suk
It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that, in the end, progress is accomplished by the man who does things.

It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

Okay, perhaps I'm being a bit harsh. Perhaps.

My sentiment remains unchanged, though I should be more specific. If someone wants to run a nUltramarine force, and use the Ultramarine named characters, I have no issue with that. If someone wants to run Salamanders or Raven Guard, and use their special characters, that's fine, too.

Even if someone wants to make up their own chapter, or use a chapter that has no special characters- for instance, Howling Griffons or Revilers, and adopt/adapt one of the other Chapter's characters, I'm even okay with that.

What I'm not okay with is someone painting up an established chapter, then using a character from some other chapter just to get the benefit of the special rule. For instance, Blood Drinkers led by Vulkan He'stan is not cool. Nor would be Iron Hands led by Marneus Calgar.

As long as there's really no mix'n'match, go ahead.

The short version: cheeze dicks will always suck, and I'm in the mood to punch somebody in the throat. (Note: I am not speaking metaphorically)

They play 40K on Fridays at Maplewood, not sure who actually plays, but its the store's regular 40k gaming night.
I'm about to drop the hammer and dispense some indiscriminate justice.
