Well, that depends. How long a period do you want to stretch this out over? My original suggestion was 3 months, broken into 2-week increments. With work responsibilities, I think this will be too tight.
On Monday, you had suggested 5-6 months. So, let's see...

Phase 1- 500 pts, at least one core choice, 3 weeks
(as I'm doing an infantry horde, I just don't think I can commit to more than one core unit every 3 weeks.)

Phase 2- 600-750 pts, at least one character and one more core, 3 weeks

Phase 3- 1000 pts, at least one special choice 2 weeks

Part one is done in 2 months, resulting in a 1000-pt force, fully painted.

Phase 4- 1500 pts total, 3 weeks
(as we'll have the bulk of our core done by this point, 500 pts in 3 weeks should be doable)

Phase 5- Themed terrain- One large or two medium pieces of terrain, themed to the army, 2 weeks

Phase 6- Army completed to 2250 pts, 3 weeks

This would bring the total time to four months. I suggest we also schedule a 2-week break in there at some point, but I'd wait for that until we've actually started this.

We could also schedule time in there to do unrelated stuff, so we don't get burned out on painting the same stuff. That's why I suggest 2 weeks for terrain. It'll break things up a bit.

Perhaps we should begin after the Winter Warhammer League?

I like the layout. 4 months is perfect, and yes, we will need the 2 week break for sure.

Anyone else want to join in? Its much easier to keep interest with several people participating!!

Yes, we should have more people involved! I intend to blog my progress, so if we get a handful of people in on this, we can add it to the website as a club project. 8)

So, who's in?

Cool. Can we coordinate a definite start date? Or, if you guys already have some stuff painted up, perhaps we can use the first 3-week block plan between now and the official start date, so instead of going from 0-2250, we can go from 500-2250.

Question, is this painting happening on specific dates at a place?
because as of now i have no painting room, so i try to go to puzzos to get some stuff done, and thursdays at toms.
but my empire needs to get finished. so count me in.

Ah, OK. For some reason, I thought the Woodies and Ogres had some painted models.
So, if we're all on an even footing, I suggest we start this right after the WHFB tournament. If we try to get this going before that, we'll likely run into time constraints around the holidays, etc.

If people feel strongly about getting started right away, I'm okay with that, as long as we factor in downtime for the holidays. In fact, I'd like to start sooner, I just don't want the whole project to get all fuckled up by the 5-week tourney.

Well, I hadn't planned on it, but it couldn't hurt. I don't think it would work if it was the only way to get things done, though. (I have a hard time painting anywhere but the same desk I've used since I was twelve.)

Chris, I can probably also offer you some painting space (once the apartment is put back together- should be another week or two.)

Guys this thread has convinced me to do an army more than a month before a GT, count my Empire in. I am trying an arabian theme and will blog my progress.

@Joe what colors would you use for darker skin tones?
